Good, but...
I recently purchased this game for my DS and quickly fell in love with it. I followed the storyline, leveling up my characters and searching for every spell and piece of gear that I could, trying out each new job. Some of them had some very interesting abilities, but that's where the trouble started: There's very little character customisation at all. Fighting characters attack, spellcasters do just that - there are essentially only two classes. There's also very little character growth. Your gear determines how much damage you do, that's pretty much all there is to it. Your "weapon level" also increases for each certain number of hits with that weapon, also increasing your damage. You also need to level up both your character and your character's job - that ends up meaning a whole lot of level grinding. Overall, it's a very primitive game, but Final Fantasy nonetheless - check this out for a decent hack n slash experience, but don't expect too much.
